You deserve a break

It's really hot right now. Gas prices are insane. AI is, apparently, going to kill us. (Or make us live longer? What a fun game!)

The point is: You deserve a break.

Fun Stuff to Listen To and Watch

Do you like music? How about listening to radio stations in Belarus, Volgograd or Milan? Check out Radio.Garden, which lets you hear stations all over the world by spinning the globe. (I'm a fan of CKPV 99.9 in Puvirnituq, Canada, which features an equal mix of techno, country music and Inuktitut poetry.)

Or maybe you like TV? In that case, here are The 100 Greatest TV Shows of All Time (feel free to argue), The 100 Best TV Episodes of All Time (now the gauntlet is thrown), and 135 Movies That Involve Time Loops (there's no shame in loving a good time loop).

Also, since Nathan Fielder is in the news, allow me to introduce you to the funniest clip from Nathan For You. (Note: Not intended as medical advice.)

Fun Articles to Read

You probably get a gajillion emails saying 'here's the best articles of the week!', and, if you are me, save them for later and then never look at them again.

So, if you're going to read a magazine article, why not read something from a list of The Best Magazine Articles Ever?

If you're looking for new books, Goodreads' most popular books of 2026 is my go-to source. (And if you haven't read Yesteryear, you should definitely read Yesteryear.)

Other Random Cool Stuff

If you travel a lot, let me introduce you to Junova.AI and JetBack: You forward your airline confirmations, and they monitor prices and — if the price goes down — get the airline to refund you the difference.

And if you're a writer, a cool website is Text As Music, which helps you see the rhythm of your prose and ways to make your writing more musical.

Finally, thank you to everyone who tuned in for my workshop on Thursday! (If you missed it, you can find a replay here.) During the workshop, I announced Supercommunicators Live! If it seems like your cup of tea, I would love for you to join us.

What's your favorite way to waste time online? (And, what's your favorite time loop movie?) Let me know in the comments!

School photo day is the best. What do the best students do? If you've got a kid going back to school, a few tips from research: Students who try to answer questions at the start of a lesson — and inevitably get them wrong, because they haven't learned anything yet — remember the lesson far longer. For our kids, or at work, what kinds of challenges make us stronger, and what burns us out? It only costs $350 in entry fees to be this miserable. Why do humans love extreme experiences? Humans have always sought out extremes: A fifth-century Syrian monk lived on top of a pillar for 36 years, drawing crowds of...

What's actually happening inside my head when I focus? There's been some pretty weird methods for maintaining focus. Demosthenes shaved half his head, but only half, so he was too embarrassed to leave his desk. Victor Hugo wrote naked so he wasn't tempted to leave his room. Maya Angelou's house was filled...
