A Brief Announcement: A new season (and a new host) for How To!

Friends,

I hope you don't mind this brief interruption. As you may know, I created a podcast in 2019 named "How To!". The idea was simple: Each week, a listener would call in with a problem, and then we would find an expert to solve that problem - and you got to listen in. (It was kind of like eavesdropping on someone's therapy session, without the co-pay.)

The show has been going strong for seven years now, and I'm ecstatic that we've found a new host: Mike Pesca, an award winning journalist and the host of The Gist.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, I hope you'll tune in (you can listen to the show and subscribe here).

Even better if you have a problem that needs solving, let us know! You can send your dilemmas to howto@mikepesca.com and we'll see if we can't get you on the show.

Thanks so much, and I'll be back soon with more advice on the science of better.

Charles

(And newspapers are disappearing faster than wives on the Lifetime channel). In other words, things are a little rough right now. But fear not! There are ways to handle the February blues! Just look at what they do in other really cold countries. “Coming to Helsinki in February is an objectively weird choice,” said a man named Mikko Tirronen....

In Vermont, they are forecasting minus 40 degrees! Trees might explode! There's something called a "frost quake"! Luckily, there's lots of studies about how to stay warm and upbeat amid the chill. Everyone needs a good kotatsu table. Frigid nations have this all figured out. Let's steal their best ideas. In Norway, where winter sunlight...
